On Saturday, April 11, 2015 Living Water Christian School will host “Taking the Mask off Domestic Violence Auction”, in honor of Keitha Turner.

In December 2009 Living Water Christian School suffered a great tragedy and as a result lost our Administrator and Principal in a double murder. Betty Jo and Dr. Gene W. Frank were the founding Pastors of Church of Living Waters and of Living Water Christian School. Keitha Turner was Principal and the daughter of Dr. Gene and Betty Jo Frank. Keitha chose to leave her husband due to domestic violence in their home in order to work on their marriage together through separation. The night she left to stay with her parents, her husband murdered her and her mother in front of their four children.

Our goal in having this auction is two fold. We want to reveal the truth behind the life of abuse that has become a hidden taboo in our society. We also want to offer families and friends, tools to identify indicators victims display to be proactive in helping our loved ones in need. Proceeds raised from this auction, will go towards Pre-K thru 8th grade scholarships to Living Water Christian School, providing the ultimate opportunity to introduce 30 years of a loving environment of excellence towards the very children in our community who have seen and experienced more than their fair share of heartache through family violence in their home. Generous donations from proceeds raised will also be given to Child Advocates of Fort Bend County and the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, to assist in their continued efforts of amazing works with the families of Fort Bend County affected by family violence.

According to Fort Bend Women’s Center, “children from violent homes are four times more likely to be arrested by police, six times more likely to commit suicide, 24 times more likely to commit sexual assault, 50 times more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol, 70% of men who batter their wives also batter their children, 62% of sons older than 14 were injured when they attempted to protect their mothers from attacks by abusive male partners, that domestic violence creates a home environment where children live in constant fear, that domestic violence in the home causes children to show more anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, anger, and various temperament problems, that male children who witness the abuse of mothers by fathers are more likely to become men who batter in adulthood than those male children from homes free of violence and boys who witness domestic violence are more likely to batter their female partners as adults. And thus, the generational cycle continues.”

In order to make this evening a great success we are seeking donations from businesses and individuals in our community that can partner with us in this effort to Take the Mask Off Domestic Violence in our community. You may donate financially, an auction item, become one of our many table sponsors or offer to volunteer your services. All will be greatly appreciated and tax deductible where applicable. Please contact the school office at 281-238-8946, Monday thru Fri, from 8am-4pm, with any inquiries or donation opportunities.

Information concerning Living Water Christian School

Our Purpose and Goal

Since its conception in 1984, the primary purpose and goal of Living Water Christian School is to promote “Excellence in Life” by training the student in the knowledge and ways of God, to become all that God intended them to be in spirit, soul, and body. Biblical principles and teachings are the threads around which all curriculums, policies, and activities are wound. We are dedicated to training young people in areas of knowledge that will allow them to develop a Christian worldview, to understand clearly, think deeply, judge wisely, and have the courage to live their lives on the great principles and convictions of Biblical truth.

The faculty is the heart of the school, forming the core that inspire, nurture and instruct the children and youth to meet the challenging years ahead. They are dedicated individuals desiring to instill a love for learning as well as the ability and desire to continue learning. Personal growth in the body of Christ requires that the student develop a disciplined and dedicated love of Christ that will enable him to apply Christ-like character to his life, his work, his decisions, and his interaction with others.

Each student is unique and valuable to Living Water Christian School. We believe that with the united effort of students, parents, faculty, and staff each student will grow to achieve God’s purpose for his life, and to ultimately positively affect his family, the church, and the local, state and worldwide community.

Demographics

Living Water Christian School is centrally located in the city of Rosenberg, Texas, a fast-growing primarily blue-collared working community, where many families are not able to afford private education for their children. We are well aware of this reality and the desires many parents have for their children’s education, which is why at Living Water, through generous sponsors and through the school itself, over 50% of our 115 students ages 6 weeks through 8th Grade have been blessed with scholarships for our school, in one form or another.

Our schools classroom ratios are one teacher to 10 students on average. This allows for follow-up and re-teaching within the classroom. Many small group projects are our focus and the possibility of all of our students being involved in clubs and extracurricular activities becomes an easy task. Our goal is that we have 100% success rate in our school through passing grades and leadership building through clubs and activities such as sports and fine arts.

Presently, we plan to continue to grow into a high school by adding a year at a time until our high school is completed to the 12th grade.

There will also be a Kid Auction for those children whose parents attend the auction. This Kid Auction ticket will provide dinner for your child and entrance into the Kid Auction. We ask that your child bring an item to be entered into the Kid Auction and then they will be given play money to spend on a Kid Auction item that they will be able to take home at the end of the night.
